Q:-Can I leave my top suspended in the garage for long periods of time?
A:-Yes, The Hoist-A-Toptm was designed with that specific purpose in mind The Hoist-A-Toptm system is the safest way to store your top. Storing the top outside on the ground can actually spread your top over time (it did with my 87 YJ). The rubber coated hook system and three point T supports the top equally. Refer to the Jeep section of our site, especially the Power Hoist video.
Q:-"How do you get the cable ubolt thing through the eye bolt?"
A:-You don't. The cable never actually goes through any eybolt. The claw hook that comes with the Power Puller clicks into the eye lag. Refer closely to your instructions, or for a better idea at how this system looks Refer to the "Power Hoist Video/Manual hoist" in the Jeep section.
Q:-How do I tell if I have a YJ, TJ, CJ, or Unlimited?
A:-Chrystler has an acronym for Jeeps of different years. Models concerning our products are as follows: TJ= Wrangler years 97-now(except Unlimited). These models have round headlights.YJ's were manufactered in the years 1987-1995 and feature square headlights. CJ's feature the old body style. CJ8 owners typically know that they own a scrambler.
Q:- Do you sell hoists for LandCruisers, Blazers and other vehicles, and if so can your hoist support the extra wieght?
A:- Yes.To order these hoists you must look through our shopping cart in the order section of our site. The hoists are custom fabricated to meet the extra wieght demands and required and extra three weeks of processing/manufacturing time.
Q:-How much clearance is there between the top and the ceiling?
A:-Around a foot give or take and inch.
Q:-Can I lower my top to the ground?
A:-There several issues to keep in mind, what version of hoist you have and how tall your ceiling is. With a manual unit you should always maintain AT LEAST 3 wraps of cable on the drum at all times. When lowering the top to the ground test it with a dead load first. With the power you most likely will have enough cable (it has 40 ft.) to do this, however this should still be tested with a dead load. Lange Originals does not recomend that you lower the top to the ground, and will not be responsible for damage to tops as a result of this action. You can store your top in the lifted possition for any amount of time.
Q:- I wish to purchase "The Rack" with just the front and rear mounting brackets (just for kayaks)at a discounted price, is this possible?
A:-Yes . "The Rack"No longer includes these accessories. These can be purchased sepraratly.
Q:-Can the rack fit an Unlimited Jeep?
A:-Yes, but your canoe or kayak needs to span the longer frame with enough kayak/canoe left to carry it without breaking the nose off your kayak/canoe. For smaller trick kayaks it probably won't work, but for canoes it works fine. Measure your top lengthwize and add about a foot, this is how far your boat will have to span.
